At the present time, we regret that we are not able to accept most health insurance, as we feel we can be of better service to our clients by offering ” in house” programs instead. Through programs such as our massage club, we are making low cost massage therapy and ongoing wellness available and affordable to most people. While I wont go as far as saying that there are no good therapists accept insurance. However, I will say that 99% of the therapists that I would personally choose to work on me, do not currently accept any form of insurance. The sea of paperwork and claim denials just aren’t worth it and leave you, the patient on the hook for the unpaid balance. That being said, I can refer you to some very good acupuncturists, Oriental doctors and chiropractic doctors that may be able to help you, who do accept many types of insurance. There are a few good ones out there.
If you are in an auto accident, you might be luck, if you could call it that. Beware of the ambulance chasing chiropractor who will bill out the maximum for heat packs, electrical stimulation and everything else he possibly can, and you might end up with a mediocre massage or two and a few adjustments for what ever is left of your $10k personal injury policy, minus lawyers fees of course. (Buyer beware)
Then there are health insurance policies that kick in only a small part of the payment, leaving you with a bill that is often more than we can negotiate regular treatments or package pricing for you. Others offer a visit every blue moon, give or take. In reality, quite often, a series of visits is required to bring you to optimal health, and then ideally, you maintain your health. It’s easier, safer and more economical to maintain health than it is to fix it. We have successfully helped thousands of clients avoid invasive, dangerous and painful unnecessary surgeries through conservative pro active treatment options. Back, neck and spine injuries, foot injuries, bunions, hammertoes, knee and hip surgeries, carpal tunnel and more all may respond favorably to massage therapy. (Make sure to check with your doctor). Additionally, if you DO need to go under the knife, pre-hab and rehab will help everything go smoother with some manual therapy before and after getting you back up to full speed in record time.
Many, but not all establishments that do take health insurance try to cut costs by using underpaid or questionably qualified therapists. Would you trust your health to an 18 year old doctor or nurse with 500 hours training? One such large multi location corporate establishment with an aggressive expansion plan in South Florida recently sent out an email looking for therapists promising they would “never work hard, never do any deep tissue work, only a light and fast Swedish massage”. Great… if that’s all you need, but typically, people need more and we at Planet Massage feel you deserve more.
Take a look at our specials page, there is something for everyone for great savings. We are always open to discussing a payment plan that makes therapy something that is affordable to you. Personally, I’d rather it be like the old days and take a live chicken or a bushel of corn for payment before bowing down to a broken system run by large drug companies, parasitic insurance companies and the like. Let Planet Massage help you heal and AVOID the illness though our massage, bodywork and wellness programs.
- Barter or Trade…We have arranged some very successful professional barter arrangements in the past. Have something you might want to trade? Ask! You never know. We are open to suggestions, and can always use general help with our promotional department, projects, passing fliers, or making contacts with local businesses among other things.
